The Investigative Division is responsible for conducting follow-up investigations of all criminal matters, the handling of all juvenile complaints, maintaining and processing of all evidence and conducting all internal affairs investigations. The Investigative Division consists of specially trained detectives and supervisors.

When crimes occur and follow-up investigations are required, these investigations are assigned to the Detective Bureau. The follow-up investigations and juvenile complaints are also handled by the Detective Bureau. All internal investigations are conducted by the Investigative Division Commanders. The Boonton Township Detective Bureau is currently under the command of Lieutenant Joseph D'Agostino.
